Construction underway at CircleReading
24 January 2011
On Friday, Reading West MP Alok Sharma visited the site for the
new CircleReading hospital to inspect plans for the five-theatre
hospital. Circle expect to create around 200 new jobs in
their state-of-the-art hospital next to the Madejski stadium.
Circle opened its first new-build hospital - CircleBath - in
March 2010. CircleBath has proved its concept to deliver a
new style of patient experience to both NHS and private patients -
combining award-winning building design with high quality clinical
care and five-star hospitality. CircleReading will follow the
same patient-centric model and is due to open to the public in
Autumn 2012.
Commenting on the CircleReading development, Alok said: "I am
delighted that the new hospital will create 200 new jobs in my
constituency. I understand that Circle also operates an
innovative partnership model, similar to the John Lewis model,
which empowers employees by virtue of their majority employee
ownership of the business and helps in delivering results for
patients".
Ali Parsa, Circle's Chief Executive, said: "Our new service will
be co-owned and operated by local clinicians, who have come
together with the single aim of providing uncompromising excellence
for the patients they serve. Our multiple-award winning
hospital in Bath has already set new standards in clinical care and
patient experience. We will bring the same dedication to
serving the people of Reading".
