Professional profile
Dr Souter is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. He
currently spends up to half his time working in the Pain Clinic at
the Royal United Hospital, Bath where he treats patients with
persistent pain problems such as back and neck pain.
He has previously worked as Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia at the
Royal United Hospital and is currently lead for Preoperative
Assessment.
Dr Souter qualified from Edinburgh University before undertaking
further training in Anaesthesia in Oxford, Berkshire and Stoke
Mandeville, receiving the FRCA in 1991. He then completed a
fellowship diploma in Pain Management in Dallas, Texas and became a
fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of
Anaesthetists in 2008.
Dr Souter has now been working as a consultant in his field in
Bath for over 14 years. Nevertheless Dr Souter still remains highly
interested and motivated by his involvement in the management of
patients with pain problems.

and playing golf.
