Professional profile
Fiona Cuthbertson is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at CircleBath
and at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. She undertook her
undergraduate training at the University of Cambridge and her
clinical training at the University of Oxford. Following her first
Ophthalmology post in Bath and subsequent posts in Leeds and
Southampton, she completed her post-graduate training in Oxford. A
period of research work into intraocular lens implant choice after
cataract surgery under the supervision of Professor Russell Foster
was followed by further sub-specialist training in medical retina
with Miss Susan Downes.
As an active member of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract
and Refractive Surgeons, Miss Cuthbertson led colleagues in a new
initiative for junior cataract surgeons, the Young
Ophthalmologists' Programme. Educational symposia organized through
this programme proved popular with junior and senior colleagues.
She has been invited to speak at cataract meetings in the UK and
Europe, and has published her work in peer-reviewed journals.
