Research interests
Mr Burwell is currently involved with a British orthopaedic
company in the development of a novel type of hip implant for use
in younger patients and, with the same company, one of a group of
surgeons involved in early clinical trial of a new bearing surface.
The hope is that this new bearing surface will wear less and lead
to an increase in the longevity of hip replacements and reduce the
need for 're-do' revision surgery.
