Mike Williamson

Professional profile
Mr Williamson is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon as
well as Lead Clinician for Colorectal Cancer at the Royal United
Hospital, Bath. He is also a Clinical Teacher at the Centre for
Medical Education at the University of Bristol and an external
examiner to Imperial College London.
Having graduated at the University of Wales (Cardiff) with
intercalated Bsc (Hons) in Physiology, Mr Williamson carried out
his Junior Surgical Training in S Wales in order to achieve his
Fellow in the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng). He then took up a
research post into ileoanal pouch function at the General Infirmary
in Leeds, which led to the award of an MD.
He continued senior surgical training on the West Yorkshire SpR
Rotation achieving Fellow in the Royal of Surgeons (Gen) before
spending a colorectal fellowship year in Concord Hospital,
Sydney.
Mr Williamson returned to Yorkshire in 1999 and was appointed as
Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in Bath.
Personal profile
Mr Williamson is married with three children. He enjoys a wide
range of outdoor activities including walking, mountain biking and
sailing.
