William Phillips

Professional profile
Dr Phillips is a Consultant Dermatologist with a particular
interest in Skin Cancer.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Dr Phillips
trained in General Practice and Internal Medicine in Taunton and
Bath. He then moved to study Dermatology at Birmingham General
Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital for two years before
winning a Wellcome Fellowship and becoming honoury Senior Registrar
at St John's Institute of Dermatology at St Thomas' Hospital.
Dr Phillips took up his first Consultant Dermatologist post at
the Royal Free Hospital where he was also an Honorary Senior
Lecturer.
Since moving back to his home town of Bath in 2001, he has been
working in general Dermatology and Clinical Lead for Skin Cancer at
the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Personal profile
Dr Phillips was born in Chippenham and brought up in Bath. He is
now married with two sons and enjoys family life.

Special clinical interests
- Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer including
assessment of patients with multiple moles.
- Skin problems in older patients.
- Using treatments safely and effectively.
- Advanced dermatological diagnosis.
Research interests
Dr Phillips identifies and refers patients with skin cancer who
may be eligible for clinical trials into new treatments.
