Clinical results

One of our founding beliefs at Circle is that by providing information on our clinical results, our Patients and their GPs will be able to make a more informed choice about coming to our Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre. Everything we measure we publish on our website for all to see.

Unplanned returns to theatre

An operation, however minor, is a serious event and we understand that this can make our patients feel nervous. However, we work hard to ensure all our patients receive the best possible outcome first time round. Consequently unplanned returns to our own theatres within 28 days of surgery are measured on a monthly basis.

During the last 12 months Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre has had no unplanned returns to our own theatres out of 15,220 patients treated in theatres.

MRSA bloodstream infections

We know our Patients are concerned by what they read about healthcare associated infections, like MRSA, which is one of the reasons why we strive to provide the very highest standards of care. Nationally this is measured through the number of MRSA bloodstream infections acquired within healthcare organisations. You can read more about our infection control policy here.

In 2010-11 our Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre had zero cases of MRSA bloodstream infections compared to the national NHS Acute Trusts rate of 1.8 cases per 100,000 bed days. Source Health Protection Agency

Patient post-operative survey

In the UK there is currently no routinely applied mechanism to track what happens to a patient following their discharge post-operation. Circle has pioneered the first system in the UK, where a representative group of patients who have undergone surgery are phoned 24 hours and again 28 days post-discharge. In this survey patients are asked for their views and personal experience on four key topics - post-operative deep vein thrombosis (DVT); re-admission to other hospitals; pain and infection. Read more.

Between September 2010 - July 2011, 3,825 patients who had undergone surgery were contacted as part of our patient post-operative survey. 1,792 of these patients completed the survey giving a 47% response rate.
