What is Bladder Lesion Removal?
Bladder lesions are abnormal growths or tumours on the lining of
the bladder which can be removed by an operation called a
transurethral resection of bladder tumour.
What does this involve?
This procedure is normally carried out under general anaesthetic
and takes around thirty minutes. Your surgeon will insert a
thin rod-like instrument with a tiny light and lens on the tip,
called a cystoscope, into your urethra. A saline
solution will then be passed through the cystoscope. Your
surgeon will find the lesion and insert a special wire loop through
the cystoscope which carries an electric current to cut or burn off
the lesion.
