What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy plays a vital role in helping to restore the
body's normal movement. It is the treatment of injury and
musculo-skeletal dysfunction through the enhancement of the body's
own natural healing mechanism. Prevention of reoccurrence is
an important part of physiotherapy and self management together
with preventative measures for those involved in sports.
What does this involve?
Your first visit will involve a comprehensive assessment of your
condition and diagnosis of your individual problem which will last
up to 45 minutes including taking details of your medical history,
medication, hobbies and occupation. We will work with you to
find out what your expectations are, what you enjoy and what you
aim to be back doing to ensure the rehabilitation program is
tailored to you and realistic timed goals set.
We often combine your programme with the use of state of the art
equipment such as the biodex strength testing machine and gait
analysis. This enables us to take a holistic approach to your
problem and provide you with an accurate diagnosis. We are
also supported by a network of professionals including orthopaedic
surgeons, rheumatologists, podiatrists, sports massage therapists,
chiropractors, personal trainers, tai chi instructor and pilates
instructors, who we can call on when it is indicated.
